A few friends from HK were here already and we met up with Ricardo Campello, 3x windsurf champ, Casey Grant, an amazing SA surfer and Susi Mai!
We are here for a photoshoot, so these past 4 days, we’ve been traveling along the coast to score kite-surf-windsurf conditions and shoot! Around Cape Town there’s such a variety of spot and conditions that make this pretty easy…even if you gotta drive a few hours a day! Langebaan has great flat water, Tabel View and Big Bay has good kickers, the Hook has some sick waves same as Cape Point!
Forecasts are a bit weird for the next few days, but yah we got a whole bunch of things to do even if its not windy, maybe going to a safari or checking out the sharks…should be another 10 days of fun!!

its always nice to be back home! I haven’t been home in a few months..and also havent been home for 2 weeks straight in like 3 years! haha…. I even got by far the coldest weeks of the year here in italy, it has been snowing everywhere, the weather is so cold that…i dont even look at the sea to check if its windy! Kiting in so cold weather is not my thing anymore..ha! The best thing coming home though, is the food I can eat! my mom has been firing some all time typical Italian pasta that i missed so much travelling…;)) Well, two weeks here are good for my back that got sore when I was in Maui, getting some rest and getting ready for the season to start! Planning my next trips now…catch u guys soon!

its already a week since I made it here to Maui..and wow, I think its my 4th year in a row I’m flying here around Jan or February! Its just such a cool place, you always find something to do, if there’s no wind, there’s waves, the Cabrinha HQ is here…and Kitebeach is simply one of the best spots on earth! When there’s good conditions there i love it.

The whole Cabrinha crew was here aswell for the final testing on next year gear…its always nice to hear the feedback on our gear and see where kiteboarding is going!

Last week we had solid 9m-7m weather everyday. Its dropped now but the swell its still there…so we should have a bunch of super glassy surf day untill the wind comes back in next week!

I hope you guys are as stoked as me on the start of 2012!

Damn, feels like yesterday that I was here in WA for New Year last year…and here we are again! thinking back though, I’ve been to quite a few places this year, meet lots of people, kited in cool spots like, Australia, Maui, Hong Kong, Philippines, Thailand, Morocco, Austria, Spain, France, the Canaries, Germany, Brasil, Mauritius, New Caledonia… I sometimes stop over in Italy between competitions and its always nice to spend some time with my family, catch up with friends and see how grown up my dogs are! ha ;)

After the whole year travelling I can finally sit back and stay in one place for more then 10days, open my bag and take everything out of it, cook at home, chill out and relax..it feels amazing!
I’ve been sharing a house with such a cool mix of English-scottish-german-kiwi people, had some good sessions in our everyday spot at Woodies, or Safety, downwinders at Cottosloe..and even Race from Rottnest Island to Leighton for Redbull! Been loving the Lifestyle here, BBQ every now and then…windy everyday, Good times here in Aussie!

so after the last event in Brazil, back in September, we were all looking forward to finish the year at its best at the last event in the far away, but amazing New Caledonia!

Noumea and the bay of Ansa Vate has a great spot for kiting, the wind kicks in straight off-shore, which make the water really flat in the inside perfect for all our tricks!
We also jump really close to the beach so the public can follow all the comp checking all the tricks and cheering!

Still sitting in 3rd place overall after the past 6 stops I was really hoping to keep it…so finish before Marc Jacobs ( 4th overall) in this event !

I started the singles in a really good way, passed my first heat against the local kid Riffard, then had a solid heat against my Brazilian mate Reno Romeu which was riding really good. I lost against Alex Pastor in the semis (only later realize my board broke again :(
But then had my best heat against Mario Rodwald in the finals, landing some good grabbed switch tricks and Bj5 at the end, finishing 3rd in the singles!

Youri Zoon though, lost early in the singles and that gave Marc Jacobs an easier way to get to the winner finals! It was a bit harsh for me..but was hoping to still make it in the doubles!

I was really pumped for my heat and coming up was World Champ Youri Zoon, as expected!
I went out on my 9m good powered and gave it all, did a few combos, lots of switch tricks, kiteloop5, went for a Bj5 but my leash got stuck on my hook and crashed my kite at the end:( That was the only crash of the heat… but yah, had lots of fun, and I was really happy of my heat! Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to pass, Youri won in a close decision.. and that left me in 4th position in the doubles!

Finishing 4th wasn’t really what I was aiming for…but I guess, thats how it goes sometimes. Every result, competition or tour either is good or bad is something which I can learn from, to be better and ready for it next time!

My 2011 overall was still such a great year! I did improve from last year, I’ve been really consistent during the whole season, had 3 podiums and finished in the top 4 for 6 events out of 7!
So this motivate me a lot to ride hard and keep on pushing my riding for next year!

France : 4th Place
Morocco: 4th Place
Fuerte: 3rd Place
Germany: 3rd Place
Brazil: 6th Place
New Cal: 4th Place

I really want to thank all my sponsors for the support this year, Its a dream for me doing what I do..thanks to you guys! Travelling the world, meeting new people and cultures, kiting around the globe, promoting our sport..its just the best thing I can think of!
